GlobalPauHana.org ("Global Pau Hana") is a website intended to help people with an affinity to Hawaii build the community where they live and connect to individuals and groups in other cities. When registering with Global Pau Hana, we ask that you provide some personal information about yourself. At Global Pau Hana we understand that your privacy is important to you, and have established this Privacy Policy to explain how information is collected on our website, and how this information is used.

Use By Children Under 13 Years of Age Prohibited

Global Pau Hana is intended solely for use by persons 13 years of age or older. All persons under 13 years of age are prohibited from registering on Global Pau Hana.

Personally Identifiable User Information

In general, you can visit the Global Pau Hana website without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. Our web servers collect the domain names or IP addresses, not the e-mail addresses, of visitors. This information is aggregated to measure the number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed, etc. Global Pau Hana uses this information to measure the use of our site and to improve the content of our site.

However, in order for you to gain access to certain features of the Global Pau Hana site, such as creating your Global Pau Hana page, and viewing other Global Pau Hana member pages, you must first register. When registering, users provide personally identifiable information, which may include their first and last name, email address, occupation, work skills, personal hobbies and interests, and other personal information. You may decline to share your information with us by choosing not to register on the website. Further, all registered users may opt to remove any such information from our database by contacting us and canceling their registration.

We may collect other personal information when you provide feedback, comments, engage in chat, message boards, interactive forums or participate in surveys or contests, or if you contact us offline. We may also correlate information collected on our site with data collected by our business affiliates or vendors who are listed on the Global Pau Hana website.

Importantly, although Global Pau Hana collects and retains each registered user's personal information in its database, we do not sell or market the email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information, of any registered user to any other third party. In some cases, certain users will be registering at Global Pau Hana in order to register their membership with an organization affiliated with Global Pau Hana. Additionally, because the State of Hawaii will be assisting with the administration of the Global Pau Hana database and website, the State will have access to user information.

Global Pau Hana logs standard user information and clickstream data for all users, including a user's IP address, operating system, and page views. If a user visits another website prior to browsing Global Pau Hana, that website might place personally identifiable information within a user's URL, which may be logged by Global Pau Hana. Global Pau Hana has no control over the practices of other websites.

In addition to the standard log information, Global Pau Hana uses a variety of technologies to create a more personalized experience for its users. Pixel tags are tiny graphic files that are included in HTML-encoded e-mail messages. We use pixel tags to gather information about e-mails sent our Members. When such a message is opened in an HTML-capable e-mail program, the recipient's computer accesses our server to retrieve the pixel tag file, and allows us to record and store the date and time, the recipient's e-mail address, and other standard logging information. These pixel tags may also read cookies.

Global Pau Hana web pages may also contain similar pixel tags that allow us to count users who have visited those pages, to compile aggregated statistics about site usage, and to deliver other services as they become available. Global Pau Hana pixel tags collect only a limited set of information including a cookie number, time and date of a page view, and a description of the page on which the pixel tag resides. Global Pau Hana web pages may also contain pixel tags placed there by third party ad servers, to monitor the effectiveness of their advertising.

How Global Pau Hana Uses the User Information

Personally Identifiable Information

Global Pau Hana uses personally identifiable user information for the purposes of the Global Pau Hana website and service, including service development, processing connections between users, customizing our website, generating user profiles, and marketing analysis. We may also use the email addresses of our members to send useful information about the Global Pau Hana website and our services and to respond to user inquires.

Legal Information Requests

No Spam Policy

We at Global Pau Hana are opposed to spam (except the edible kind in the can). Our Terms of Service prohibit all users from engaging in any activity involving spam on our service. Violations of these policies may result in immediate termination of service and legal action against any spammer. Global Pau Hana's Terms of Service expressly prohibit: uploading, posting, emailing, transmitting or otherwise making available junk mail, commercial advertisements, or other form of commercial solicitation on the Global Pau Hana website or through Global Pau Hana's services. Any violation of our policies, by sending mass unsolicited email advertisements to or through Global Pau Hana computer systems, will use or cause to be used Global Pau Hana's servers, located in California and other locations. Accordingly, any unauthorized use of Global Pau Hana's computer systems is a violation of our policies and certain federal and state laws, including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C.  1030 et seq.), Section 502 of the California Penal Code and Section 17538.45 of the California Business and Professions Code. Such violations may subject the sender and his or her agents to civil and criminal penalties.

Security

Global Pau Hana uses industry standard security measures to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. While we use encryption software to protect sensitive information online, we also use our best efforts to protect your information off-line. The servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment behind a locked cage.

Although we make good faith efforts to store the information collected by the Global Pau Hana website in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee complete security. Further, while we make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party "hackers" from illegally obtaining this information.

Updating or Removing User Information

Registered users may, at any time, choose to correct or update the information they have submitted to us. This may be done by the following method:

1) Log in to your Global Pau Hana account on our website.
2) Go to the "My Account->Edit" page
3) Change or edit any of the information there, and then click the button at the bottom that says "Save Changes".

Registered users may also, at any time, cancel their account by logging into their account and using an option on the "My Account" page. When a member cancels his or her account with us, we will remove the member's personal information from our active databases. Following cancellation, we will not use a member's personal information for the Global Pau Hana service, though it may continue to persist on back-up media. Other information collected by Global Pau Hana, such as our server logs, will be maintained for a length of time appropriate to our business needs.

Opt-Out

We provide all users the opportunity to opt out of receiving future monthly newsletters from Global Pau Hana by visiting www.GlobalPauHana.org (Go to "My Account". Opt out instructions will be contained in each monthly e-mail newsletter. If the user has an active Global Pau Hana account, choosing to opt-out (unsubscribe) from the link within the email message will not cancel the user's account - the user's account remains active, but the user will no longer receive any monthly newsletters from Global Pau Hana. On occasion, Global Pau Hana may send out a targeted newsletter or message to certain groups of registered users. For example, Global Pau Hana may send out a message to all registered users in a particular region about a last-minute event in their area or to all registered users who work in a particular industry about a Hawaii job opportunity in such industry. Global Pau Hana does not provide an opt out option for such targeted e-mail messages. However, canceling your account, as described in the preceding section, will prevent that user from receiving future monthly newsletters or targeted messages from Global Pau Hana.

Revisions to This Policy

Global Pau Hana reserves the right to revise, amend, or modify this policy and our other policies and agreements at any time and in any manner. Notice of any revision, amendment, or modification will be posted on the website, and a user's continued use of Global Pau Hana will signify agreement to such changes. If you do not agree to the revision, amendment, or modification, you must cancel your account as described above.

Special Note for International Users

International users, by registering with Global Pau Hana, agree that Global Pau Hana may collect, use, and transfer user information as described in this Privacy Policy. In addition, such data may be stored on servers located outside your resident jurisdiction which may have less stringent privacy practices than your own. By providing us with your data, you consent to the transfer of such data. For users residing in the European Union or other jurisdictions that provide access rights under the law, users may access their information or have it corrected or updated in accordance with applicable law, by contacting Global Pau Hana.
