Kamaaina Came Home [20 members] This community is for the kamaaina who relocated back to Hawaii. All you kamaaina who are helping to reverse the "brain drain" for the Aloha State. Share your stories and experiences about life back on the aina.
Akua O Hawaii is a place where we can share stories of Akua or gods / deities of Hawaii. From Pele to Hi'iaka, Laka, Kamapua'a, and so much more we can all share what legends we grew up with and what have been passed down to us by our 'ohana. It's very interesting to hear the stories from the different islands. Each are very similar in "moral of the story" but depending where you are from the story is a little bit different.
I hope this community brings in people who are curious of our culture, to educate those who were not brought up with these stories, and for hula, 'ohana, mele, oli.....which is why I want to start this.
Please bring in your mana'o and share with us the knowledge given to you by your kupuna.

Life's Journey [14 members] On the left is a 1953 Matson poster from a bygone era showing a sad moment when the ocean liner U.S.S. Lurline leaves Honolulu Harbor heading for a long journey across the seas. What is your life story about your "Journey across the seas?" Why did you leave Hawaii? ...Was it the allure of the 1990s dot.com boom? ...Was it college, better opportunities, the high cost of living or just needing to get away? Tell us your story!
